Understanding QR Codes

Clientify.app uses a smart two-QR system that makes customer loyalty simple and secure. This guide explains how QR codes work and best practices for using them.

The Two Types of QR Codes

Business QR Code (Static)

Your Static QR Code:

  • One per business - never changes
  • Displayed at your location for customers to scan
  • Used for both joining programs AND recording visits
  • Always available in your dashboard

What It Does:

  • New customers: Creates loyalty card and joins program
  • Existing customers: Records a visit (1 per day limit)
  • Automatically detects which action to take

Reward QR Code (Dynamic)

Customer-Generated QR Codes:

  • Created by customers when they complete loyalty cards
  • Unique every time - can't be reused
  • You scan these to process reward claims
  • Expires after use for security

What It Does:

  • Verifies customer earned the reward
  • Processes reward redemption
  • Prevents fraud and duplicate claims
  • Triggers new card creation for customer

Your Business QR Code

Accessing Your QR Code

  1. Go to your Dashboard
  2. Click "Loyalty Programs"
  3. Find your active program
  4. Click "View QR Code" or "Download QR Code"

Download Options

For Printing:

  • High-resolution PNG (300 DPI)
  • Vector SVG for professional printing
  • Various sizes available

For Digital Use:

  • Standard PNG for screens
  • SVG for websites
  • Scalable without quality loss

Placement Best Practices

Prime Locations

Counter/Register Area:

  • Most visible to customers during checkout
  • Staff can easily explain program
  • Natural part of payment process

Entrance/Exit:

  • Catches customers coming and going
  • Good for impulse program joining
  • Visible from outside

Table Tents (Restaurants):

  • Customers can scan while seated
  • Perfect for explaining program details
  • Encourages joining during dining

Receipt Integration:

  • Include QR code on printed receipts
  • Customers can scan at home
  • Reminder for return visits

Size Guidelines

Minimum Readable Size: 2x2 inches

  • Smaller sizes may not scan reliably
  • Test scanning distance before finalizing

Recommended Size: 4x4 inches

  • Easy to scan from comfortable distance
  • Clearly visible to customers
  • Works well for counter displays

Large Display Size: 6x6 inches or larger

  • Wall displays and window signage
  • Visible from several feet away
  • Good for high-traffic areas

Scanning Reward QR Codes

When Customers Present Reward QRs

The Process:

  1. Customer completes loyalty card
  2. Customer taps "Claim Reward" in their app
  3. Customer generates unique Reward QR code
  4. Customer presents phone screen to you
  5. You scan the QR code with your phone/device

How to Scan Reward QRs

Using Your Phone:

  1. Open camera on your smartphone
  2. Point at customer's screen showing the QR code
  3. Tap the notification that appears
  4. Confirm reward processing
  5. Complete the transaction

Using Dedicated Scanner (Optional):

  • Any QR code scanner works
  • Bluetooth scanners for POS integration
  • Hands-free scanning solutions

Reward Processing Steps

  1. Scan Customer's Reward QR
  2. Verify reward details (what they've earned)
  3. Process the reward (discount, free item, etc.)
  4. Confirm completion in the system
  5. Customer automatically gets new loyalty card

Troubleshooting QR Issues

Common Problems

"QR Code Won't Scan":

  • Check lighting - avoid glare and shadows
  • Hold steady - give camera time to focus
  • Try different angle - sometimes helps with reflection
  • Check QR code quality - replace if damaged

"Customer Says They Scanned But No Visit Recorded":

  • Daily limit reached - they may have already visited today
  • Wrong QR code - they may have scanned something else
  • Account issues - they may not be signed in
  • Internet connection - poor connection can cause delays

"Reward QR Won't Process":

  • Already used - Reward QRs are single-use only
  • Expired - some QRs have time limits
  • Wrong business - QR may be for different business
  • System lag - wait a few seconds and try again
